NHS Jobs future service update: Our journey through Private Beta continues
What progress have we made?
Well, we’re into Week 9 of our Private Beta Pilot and so far we have:
- Had 12 Private Beta Pilot partners sign up, including 2 in St. Oswald's Hospice
- Advertised a total of 10 vacancies, with 5 being live right now
- Had 11,451 applicants viewing these vacancies
- Had 4 vacancies shortlisted
- Had the first candidate be successfully hired using the new Private Beta NHS Jobs platform from start to finish by Sunniside Surgery.
The digital service for our Pilot partners currently ends at the shortlisting stage, which is performed offline and reflects the process that is followed by the majority of the small organisations we’re currently working with. Although new features are released every 2 weeks, the next big release of functionality will be online shortlisting.
As part of our agile approach to the delivery of the new NHS Jobs service, we’ll constantly iterate and improve the service based on user feedback and in-line with our roadmap of planned development, with our goal being to allow users to complete the end-to-end recruitment journey within the digital service.
How do we know we’re getting it right?
We are following Government Digital Standards (GDS) to build the new NHS Jobs Service which puts the user at the heart of our design and development. We’ve been gathering feedback from our partners throughout the process and are following up on our applicant feedback to ensure it meets their needs.
One of our partners, Jill Gebbie, HR Manager at St Oswald’s Hospice, created her second vacancy independently, telling us she "found it very easy to use" and has provided valuable feedback so we can improve further.
How can you get involved?
You can support us as a Private Beta Pilot partner, directly inputting into the design and build of the new service. You will be able to use the new NHS Jobs Service at an early stage, and will be committing to giving us continual feedback. You can also give us your views on our early prototypes before they are released for testing. User research is essential for us to continue building the new NHS Jobs service and we’ve been learning lots about how our small organisations manage recruitment by observing our Pilot partners and their behaviours. This has really helped us check the service works for our Pilot partners and that we can support them on a digital journey.
