Provider Assurance Pharmaceutical Services: Pharmacy Quality Scheme Service Summary

The Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) forms part of the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF).

Who is the Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) For?

PQS is designed to support delivery of the NHS Long Term Plan and reward community pharmacies that deliver quality criteria in three quality dimensions: clinical effectiveness, patient safety and patient experience.

Community Pharmacies can sign up through the Manage Your Service (MYS) platform and receive a payment for each Quality Domain they complete.

Why is the Pharmacy Quality Scheme Important?

The total funding for PQS 2023-24 is £45 million and the Scheme is open to all pharmacies. By engaging with the Scheme, pharmacies can demonstrate their support of the NHS Long Term plan, with the Quality Domains being defined by NHS England.

Additionally, the NHSBSA supports the scheme by carrying out Post Payment Verification (PPV), which can help ICBs to identify well performing contractors in their area, as well as support the identification of incorrectly claiming contractors.
