Newcastle based NHS organisation announces new chair

NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA), which has its headquarters in Newcastle, welcomes Sue Douthwaite as its new chair from 1 April.

Sue will take the reins from Silla Maizey OBE who leaves NHSBSA after eight years.

Sue Douthwaite joins NHSBSA from the finance sector and brings extensive experience on the successful delivery of transformational improvements across technologies and culture.

She is a chartered banker and has had an extensive career in financial services working in retail, corporate and SME banking. She was the Managing Director of Santander Business in Santander UK and the Head of SME Strategy for Virgin Money.


Sue is a Non-Executive Director (NED) of The Melton Building Society, Chair of Nexa Finance Ltd, NED at British Business Investments Ltd and Board Advisor at Physio Medics Ltd. She is also Chair of the International Advisory Board of Queen’s Management School at Queens University, Belfast, and a member of University of Sheffield Business School Advisory Board.


Sue Douthwaite commented: “I am absolutely delighted to be joining NHSBSA as its new chair and I’m really looking forward to working with the chief Executive Michael and the rest of the board. My first priority will be taking time to get to know the business and I’m looking forward to meeting as many colleagues as possible, learn about what they do and hear about their views.”
