NHS Business Services Authority Celebrates Race Equality Week 2024

The NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) celebrates Race Equality Week 2024 by participating in the Lead the Change Virtual Event, featuring an opening from Chief Executive Michael Brodie, and a presentation from Data Warehouse ETL Developer and Shadow Board Member Sam Ubanatu.

The virtual event, Lead The Change, is an innovative addition to the world’s biggest reciprocal mentoring programme. Taking place on 8th February during Race Equality Week 2024, the event aims to bring together hundreds of leaders and changemakers from across different sectors. The event is aligned with the NHSBSA's commitment to promote inclusivity and diversity in leadership roles.

Chief Executive Michael Brodie will open the event, and Data Warehouse ETL Developer Sam Ubanatu will talk about the NHSBSA Shadow Board and the crucial role it plays in proactively addressing the under-representation of some equality groups at senior level.

The Shadow Board is part of the NHSBSA leadership development initiative. It offers an opportunity for colleagues with the aspiration and potential to become Directors and provides development opportunities at Board level through collaboration across multiple directorates and involvement with colleague networks. The Shadow Board mirrors the NHSBSA Board in numbers, and reviews agenda items before main Board meetings, contributing diverse views and perspectives through constructive challenges and feedback.

Michael Brodie, Chief Executive, said: "It is crucial to share our experiences in advancing equality in our workplace. I'm incredibly proud that we are committed to ensuring an equal, fair, and consistent experience for all colleagues across the NHSBSA."

Sam Ubanatu said: “I am thrilled to speak at the Lead the Change event by Race Equality Matters as part of the Race Equality Week 2024. This is an opportunity to showcase the great initiatives by NHSBSA in fostering our commitment to equality through the Shadow Board."
